HAMDEN, Conn. — A 12-0 run to start the second half propelled Quinnipiac (6-5) to a 73-51 victory over the visiting Dartmouth Big Green (2-10) on Wednesday afternoon at the TD Bank Sports Center. While freshman Matt LaBove was the lone Dartmouth player in double figures with a season-high 13 points, the Bobcats had four with at least 10 points, led by James Feldeine with 18.

Quinnipiac controlled the glass all game, owning a 42-22 rebounding advantage. Justin Rutty, who averages a double-double on the season, had a game-high 14 boards to go along with 10 points.

Not only did the Bobcats begin the half with the first 12 points, they scored 18 points in the first five minutes in building a 52-27 lead at the first official timeout. Quinnipiac blistered the nets at a 65.4 percent clip (17-of-26) for the final 20 minutes and shot 57.7 percent (30-of-52) for the game.

On the other end of the court, Dartmouth managed to shoot just 38.0 percent (19-of-50) and 50.0 percent (11-of-22) at the free throw line. LaBove was 4-of-8 from the floor and 5-of-8 at the line in posting his 13 points, plus led the team with six rebounds. No other Big Green player had more than two boards

Head coach Terry Dunn took a timeout two-and-a-half minutes into the game after his Big Green sqsuad fell behind 6-0, and LaBove responded with a quick layup to get Dartmouth on the board. Fellow freshman Mbiyimoh Ghogomu got a bucket the next time down the floor, but the Bobcats went on a 12-1 run over the next seven minutes to build an 18-5 lead.

Sophomore Jabari Trotter, returning to the court after missing the last two games with an injury, knocked down a 17-footer on the left baseline to end the run, which began a 7-0 spurt for the Green. LaBove converted a three-point play, then Dartmouth broke a full-court press which sophomore David Rufful finished off with a layup

With the lead down to six, Quinnipiac went back to work as Rutty provided a dunk and a layup around two Jamee Jackson free throws. But senior Robby Pride drained a three-pointer for the Big Green, as did junior Ronnie Dixon, making it a 24-19 contest with 3:37 left in the half.

Feldeine tallied the next six points of the game, pushing the lead back to 11, and the Bobcats got two more buckets in the final minute to take a 34-21 lead into the locker room.

Three-point plays by Jeremy Baker and Feldeine fueled the 12-0 start to the second half, and Baker punctuated it with a two-hand jam to make it a 46-21 games less than three minutes into the stanza. The two sides mostly traded baskets for the rest of the game as the difference hovered between 22 and 27 points until the final buzzer sounded.

Joining Feldeine and Rutty in double figures for Quinnipiac were Baker with 15 and Jamee Jackson off the bench with 10.

Big Green junior Clive Weeden came off the bench to knock down all four of his field goal attempts in the second half for eight points.

Dartmouth returns to Leede Arena for its next game, hosting Bucknell on Monday, Jan. 4 at 7 p.m. Quinnipiac travels to Monmouth this Saturday, Jan. 2, for a contest at 7 p.m.
