ECAC Hockey Release

HANOVER, N.H. -  Senior co-captain Sarah Parsons (Dover, Mass.) tallied seven points in a weekend sweep over Brown and Yale to earn ECAC Hockey Player of the Week honors on Monday.

Parsons is the first Big Green skater to earn the honor this season and was the second player on this year’s squad to reach 100 games in her career, which she did on Friday night against Brown. This season, when Parsons scores, she does it in bunches. She has scored in four of Dartmouth’s eight contests and has multiple points in all four of those games with a season-high four against Yale.

Against Brown, she netted the eventual game-winner in the second period after adding one in the first frame. Parsons followed the two goals with an assist coming on the Big Green’s fourth goal of the game, which gave Dartmouth much needed breathing room late in the final period.

She netted her first power-play goal of the season in the second period in the 6-2 win over Yale and also assisted on another score with the extra skater. She recorded her second assist of the night in the last frame and closed the game with an empty net score in the final minutes.

Parsons continues to climb up the Dartmouth all-time scoring list as she has 128 points on 51 goals and 77 assists. She just passed Olympian Rachel Rochat ’95 for 15th all time and is two points away from Kim McCullough ’02 for 14th on the list. Her 77 assists ties her with former teammate Maggie Kennedy ’09 for eighth all time in career helpers. Joining her as the only two on this year’s squad to reach 100 points was senior co-captain Jenna Cunningham (Medicine Hat, Alta.), who skated into the club with a pair of goals against Yale on Saturday.

The Big Green is set for a Thanksgiving feast at Bright Hockey Center with Harvard as the two rivals hook up on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. in Cambridge.
