HANOVER, N.H. — The Dartmouth women’s soccer team as well as individual players Kelsey Quick (Bernardsville, N.J.) and Myra Sack (Wynnewood, Pa.) have been honored by the NSCAA for their prowess on the field and in the classroom.

As a team, Dartmouth was named a Team Academic Award Winner by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America for the fourth straight season and seventh time in the last eight years. The award is given to teams with an overall cumulative grade point average (all players) of 3.0 or better. The 2009 award is based on the team gpa from the 2008-09 academic year.

Dartmouth is one of 336 women’s teams across all three NCAA Divisions to earn the award and with a 3.38 grade point average.

Individually, Dartmouth’s Quick and Sack were both honored as NSCAA Scholar All-East athletes. The award recognizes select junior and senior student-athletes who are successful both on the field and in the classroom.

Sack, a senior midfielder, earned a spot on the Scholar All-East second team after completing a stellar career with the Big Green. On the field, she picked up All-Ivy first team honors for the second straight season, starting all 17 games and tallying 10 points as a senior. Also an NSCAA All-Region and All-New England honoree, Sack was a finalist for the 2009 Lowe’s Senior Class Award that recognizes excellence in competition, the classroom, community and character. A government major, Sack was named to the NSCAA Scholar All-America third team and Scholar All-East first team as a junior in 2008.

Quick had the finest season of her career as a senior in 2009 and was named to the Scholar All-East third team to go along with her All-Ivy first team accolades. A senior midfielder and co-captain along with Sack, Quick is majoring in sociology at Dartmouth. This fall she ranked second on the team with 12 points on three goals and a team-high six assists. She graduates with 28 career points including 14 assists, ranking seventh all-time in Dartmouth history.

Becky Poskin (Leawood, Kan.), the third co-captain, was named honorable mention for the award. A sociology major with a religion minor, Poskin recently completed her fifth year with the Big Green, earning honorable mention All-Ivy. A forward/midfielder, Poskin tallied seven points this fall and finished with 22 points including nine goals for her career.

The 2009 Dartmouth women’s soccer team reached the 10-win mark for the 12th time in program history and third time in the last five years, going 10-7 overall, and finishing third in the Ivy League at 4-3.
