Kevin Gibson
Dartmouth Women’s Golf Coach
14th Season

After spending the 1998 spring season as Dartmouth's interim women's golf coach, Kevin Gibson was appointed to the position on a full-time basis in June 1998.
He brought a wealth of coaching experience to the Big Green. From 1988-97, Gibson was the varsity golf coach at Kearsarge Regional High School. In addition, he was assistant men's basketball coach at Colby-Sawyer College in 1995 and 1996; assistant women's basketball coach for the Chargers in 1994; and varsity girls’ basketball coach at Mascoma Valley Regional High from 1983-85.
A 1980 graduate of Springfield College where he earned a bachelor's degree in physical education, he began his golf career that same year as golf professional/general manager at Carter C.C. in Lebanon, N.H.
After six seasons there, he moved to Country Club of New Hampshire in North Sutton, and he assumed additional duties as the club's general manager in 1992. Each season at CC of NH, Gibson is responsible for an especially aggressive tournament schedule, including the PGA playability test and the New Hampshire men's senior amateur championship.
Past president of the New Hampshire chapter of the New England PGA and formerly the state's representative to the NEPGA executive committee, Gibson was a member of the N.H. Intercollegiate Athletic Association's golf committee.
During the spring of 1998, he coached Dartmouth to a pair of third places finishes at the Ivy League Championship and the Boston College Invitational.
In April 1999, Dartmouth won its first team title since 1993, coming from behind on the final nine to win the Boston College Invitational. During the fall of 2000, the Big Green had three runner-up finishes, including one at the prestigious Tina Barrett/Longwood Invitational. Under Gibson's tutelage, Dartmouth also grabbed third-place finishes at Mt. Holyoke and Brown during 2002-03. During the 2003-04 season, the Big Green won the Bryant Invitational during the fall, and took the third spot in the Northeast Championship during the spring.
Gibson and his wife, Joni, live in Georges Mills, N.H.

In August of 2006, both the Dartmouth men’s and women’s golf programs received recognition from Golf Digest as being among the top 50 schools in the country that provide the best education as well as an opportunity to play golf.
Golf Digest evaluated nearly 1,300 golf programs across the country and ranked them on the basis of their athletic program as well as their educational opportunity. Both the Big Green men’s and women’s programs were ranked in the top 25.
The Dartmouth women’s program was ranked 13th in the country. The Big Green men’s golf program was given a rank of 21st in the nation.
These rankings are compiled annually by Golf Digest to give high school juniors — who are looking to excel not only in the classroom, but on the golf course as well — an idea as to which schools they should apply.
