Coach Shannon O’Brien returns for her second year with the Big Green after a successful rookie year as Dartmouth’s cross-country/track and field coaching intern.
Coach O’Brien works closely with the women’s cross-country team in the fall then makes a transition to sprints and hurdles in the indoor season. Come outdoor season O’Brien spends a great deal of time with the field events.
A graduate from Keene State College, O’Brien was a standout performer for the Owls in cross-country and track and field. She captained both teams during the 2004-05 seasons and received All-America honors in the 800 meters.
After graduating from Keene in 2005, she spent the next year there as an assistant to coach Peter Thomas. She came to Dartmouth from Oregon where she was a supervisor for the Boys and Girls Club of America Portland Metropolitan Area.
O’Brien spent the summer working running camps across the country and brings back with her a variety of knowledge and experience in warm-ups, stretching and drills.
