Brian Austin Executive Associate Athletic Director Goes By: Brian Years at Dartmouth: 7 Amherst College BA ‘84, UMass MS ‘87

Brian
Austin was appointed Senior Associate Director of Athletics at Dartmouth in
2002 and was promoted to Executive Associate Athletic Director for Varsity Sports in
2008. He is responsible for the daily
operations of Dartmouth’s 34 varsity sports, with direct oversight of 10 varsity teams including football, men’s
and women’s basketball, and men’s ice hockey.
Austin began his career in athletics as a baseball coach, working as an assistant with the Amherst College and UMass teams from 1984 through 1986. He was named assistant athletic director at Cornell University in 1987 and spent nine years at Cornell, receiving a promotion to associate athletic director in 1984. From 1986 to 2002 Austin served as the director of athletics at Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky. During his six years at Transylvania he led the transition of college’s athletic program to NCAA Division III, secured membership in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference, and oversaw the construction of a new athletic center and baseball facility. Austin, and his wife Beverly have two daughters, Sarah (8) and Kristina (6) and live in Grantham, NH. |
