Dartmouth JV Football vs. Vermont

HANOVER, N.H. — Freshman tailback Jeremy Rick ran nine times for 158 yards and two touchdowns Sunday as the Dartmouth junior varsity team overwhelmed the University of Vermont club football team, 46-0.

Rick had a 44-yard touchdown run on his first carry and went 56 yards on his third. He also had a touchdown run called back.

Freshman quarterback Greg Patton completed 11-of-19 passes for 124 yards and two touchdowns and ran eight yards for another as the Big Green improved to 2-0. Vermont dropped to 0-5.

Freshman Corey Vann led the receiving corps with six catches for 83 yards, including an 8-yard touchdown.

Freshman back Jason Lawrence ran five times for 50 yards and one touchdown for Dartmouth. Junior John Albert added a three-yard scoring run.

Sophomore Joey Casey had a 27-yard touchdown catch.

Freshman defensive lineman Elliot Kastner posted seven tackles and recovered two fumbles to pace the Dartmouth defense that kept Vermont pinned in its own end most of the afternoon. Freshman linebacker Tom Patek had five tackles and a breakup. Defensive back Kelly Mitchell returned an interception 17 yards for the Big Green and added four tackles.

Dartmouth returns to action Oct. 30 with it's only road game of the season, a 2 p.m. kickoff at Harvard. The Big Green closes out the junior varsity season Nov. 8 against Maine’s Bridgton Academy at noon.
