HANOVER, N.H. - Under new head coach Dan Roock, the Dartmouth men’s lightweight rowing team was in action for first time this weekend at the Head of the Charles.
The Big Green sent one varsity eight boat to the lightweight 8 event and placed 16th in a time of 16:29.7. The New York Athletic Club took the top spot with time of 15:28.3, while Princeton was second at 15:32.725.
“This is a good result for what we are capable of at this point in our training,” said Roock. “So, I am happy that the crew did what I asked them to, and charged up by the challenge to close the gap on our opponents by the spring.”
Next up for the Big Green this fall will be the Princeton Chase this coming weekend, beginnig at 8 a.m. on Sunday. Dartmouth then will host its annual Green Monster race on Nov. 7.
