Dartmouth Women's Volleyball Gets Swept by Brown

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Behind a defensive effort Brown came away with a 3-0 sweep of the Dartmouth women's volleyball team on Saturday afternoon. The win is the Bears first league win of the season as Brown outhit the Big Green by over 100 points. With the win, Brown improves to 5-13 overall this year and 1-6 in the Ivy League, while Dartmouth falls to 7-11 on the season and 3-5 in league play.Scores were 22-25, 18-25, 14-25.

The Bears came out motivated and hitting well, taking an early lead in the first set and maintaining a slim advantage throughout. The Big Green came right back to take a 10-8 lead, but Brown stormed back taking a 15-10 advantage before Dartmouth was able to regain serve.  Though the visitors made a late charge to get back in the mix, the Bears held on for a 25-22 win to take the 1-0 match lead.

Brown carried that momentum through the second set, jumping out to an immediate 4-0 lead. From there, the Bears continued building their advantage, gradually moving out to a 21-13 margin, and took a 25-18 win. Brown hit .357 while holding Dartmouth to just .061, with seven errors in 33 attacks. After the Big Green managed to keep it relatively close early, pulling to within 13-12, the Bears turned it on late, pulling away for a 25-14 win.

Senior Megan MacGregor (Carlsbad, Calif.) led Dartmouth in hitting with 11 kills. Two players had double-figure digs as Alissa Santa Maria (Yorba Linda, Calif.) recorded 10 digs and Lexie Campbell (Solana Beach, Calif.) led the Big Green with 13.

Dartmouth will be back in action next weekend with Ivy matches against Cornell and Columbia on Friday and Saturday.
