Oberg Trophy Results

HANOVER, N.H. - The Dartmouth sailing team had a great weekend of racing as a pair of Big Green teams came out on top in their respective regattas.

The women were first out of 17 teams at the Stu Nelson Women’s Intersectional at Connecticut College. Senior skipper Becca Dellenbaugh (Easton, Conn.) and sophomore Rachel Moncton (Cupertino, Calif.) won the A division and led the team to the overall win. The two gave the Big Green 74 points total, while freshman Chandler Salisbury (Lakewood, Ohio) and senior Steph Gagnon (Westerly, R.I.) took fourth in the B Division with 93 points.

At the Oberg Trophy at MIT, Dartmouth was first out of 18 teams with a total of 209 points in three separate races. The event was not a national event, but the Big Green was able to defeat many of its rivals. In the top division race, sophomore Bernard Roesler (Franklin Lakes, N.J.) and sophomore Raquel Merchant (New York, N.Y.) ended up in second place with 59 points.

Junior Ed Jude Glackin (Huntington, N.Y.) and freshman Matt Habig (Larchmont, N.Y.) kept the Big Green going with a third-place finish in the B Division and in a rare C Division race Dartmouth finished second. The last boat was led by senior Ben Bier (Dartmouth, Mass.) with classmate Heidi Heller (Evanston, Ill.).

The Big Green also competed at the top intersectional and finished eighth overall out of 18 teams at the Hoyt Trophy. In the three-person boat, sophomore skipper Samuel Williams (Summit, N.J.) led Dartmouth to a 10th-place finish in the A Division with his crew of junior Peter Hughes (Slingerlands, N.Y.) and senior Sarah Freihofer (Etna, N.H.). In the B Division, senior Matthew Cohen (Milford, Conn.) sailed his boat to a 12th-place mark with junior Alexandra Hiller (Pennington, N.J.) and junior Sam Andrew (Westport, Conn.), along with Freihofer.
