HANOVER, N.H. - The Dartmouth sailing team has been busy lately, competing in three regattas last weekend and the women earning a spot in the upcoming Atlantic Coast Championship.

The women took eighth overall at The Victorian Coffee Urn at Harvard to earn the trip to the ACC. Senior Becca Dellenbaugh (Easton, Conn.) captained a crew of sophomore Rachel Moncton (Cupertino, Calif.) and freshman Madilyn Gamble in the A Division. Their boat took fifth overall, earning the Big Green 43 points. In the B Division, freshman Chandler Salisbury (Lakewood, Ohio) and senior Steph Gagnon (Westerly, R.I.) teamed up for a 10th-place finish for 78 points.

The coed team was at the 68th Erwin Schell Trophy at MIT and finished 13th. The Big Green did not qualify for the Atlantic Coast Championship, but will be competing at the Coed Atlantic Coast Tournament. Sophomore Samuel Williams (Summit, N.J.) led Dartmouth in the A Division, ending up 10th with 225 points. He was joined by the crew of junior Peter Hughes (Slingerhands, N.Y.) and senior Sarah Freihofer (Etna, N.H.). The B Division was not as successful as the team took 16th. Sophomore Bernard Roesler (Franklin Lakes, N.J.) skippered the crew of senior Matthew Cohen (Milford, Conn.), sophomore Racquel Merchant (New York, N.Y.) and junior Sam Andrew (Westport, Conn.).

Dartmouth finished the weekend with a fifth-place mark at the Nickerson Trophy, which is the New England championship regatta for all freshmen boats. The highlight came in the B Division as rookies David McClatchy (Annapolis, Md.) and Sabrina Amaro (Canyon Country, Calif.) finished in the top spot, giving the Big Green 64 points. In the A Division, freshmen John Renehan (Seattle, Wash.) and Margaret Wilson (Rye, N.Y.) sailed to a seventh-place finish for 109 points.

The women will take to the water at the Atlantic Coast Championship in two weeks in Providence, R.I., on the weekend of Nov. 14-15. The freshmen team will be competing in the Freshman Intersectional next weekend against many of the best rookies in the country.
