Volleyball's Alissa Santa Maria Earns Ivy Rookie of the Week Honors

HANOVER, N.H. - The Dartmouth women's volleyball team picked its up second Ivy League weekly award when rookie Alissa Santa Maria (Yorba Linda, Calif.) was named the co-rookie of the week for Nov. 3. Santa Maria will share the award with Penn freshman, Lauren Martin.
Santa Maria has not been called on often this season but last weekend in two matches the freshman setter stepped into a key role for the Big Green as her 87 assists helped lead Dartmouth to a weekend sweep of Cornell and Columbia. The rookie recorded a double-double in both contests as she had 42 assists and 16 digs to exact revent against the Big Red and then had 45 assists and 15 digs the next night against the Lions. She also hit .500 in both matches with two service aces and one block.
Named to the honor roll was classmate Lexie Campbell (Solana Beach, Calif.). Campbell was the force she was recruited to be last weekend in a sweep of Cornell and Columbia. In a rubber match against the Big Red she had eight kills and a season-high 24 digs along with one service ace and two blocks. The next night against the Lions she was stellar with 11 kills and 14 digs, along with four assists.
Dartmouth will close out its home season this weekend with a set of matches against Brown on Friday and Yale on Saturday.
