HANOVER, N.H. – The Dartmouth women's hockey team outshot Quinnipiac, 33-17,  but couldn't find the back of the net in the third period as the Big Green dropped a 2-1 decision to the Bobcats in ECAC Hockey action on Saturday.

Dartmouth (2-3-1, 2-3-1 ECAC Hockey) got its lone goal from senior co-captain Jenna Cunningham (Medicine Hat, Alta.) for her fourth of the season with the assists going to freshmen Sasha Nanji (Markham, Ont.) and Camille Dumais (Beaconsfield, Que.). Cunningham now has 99 career points and will hit the road next weekend looking for her 100th career point. Senior Mariel Lacina (London, Ont.) took the loss making 15 saves in net.

Quinnipiac (6-3-2, 4-0-1 ECAC Hockey) got a great performance from netminder Victoria Vigilanti as she pushed aside 32 shots, including 18 in the third period alone. Heather Hughes tallied two assists, while Chelsea Illchuk and Bethany Dymarczyk netted the two goals in the win.

Quinnipiac starting the scoring halfway through the first period on a goal by Illchuk to make it 1-0. Hughes started the play with a shot that was blocked up in the air and when Lacina tried to glove it, Illchuk connected with the puck about waste high and drove it home.

Cunningham evened the score at 1-1 with 2:27 remaining in the period with her fourth of the season. Nanji fired a shot wide and off the back boards that redirected to the far post and classmate Dumais tipped the puck out to an open Cunningham. She then beat Vigilanti low and inside the right post.

After a scoreless second period, the Bobcats to its second lead of the game at 2-1 with the game-winner coming off the stick of Dymarcyzk. She received a pass from Breehan Polci and put a slapper on net that snuck by the right pad of Lacina and into the net.

Dartmouth definitely had its opportunities in the third period. Two shots rang off the post and managed four shots in its only power play chance of the game coming right after Quinnipiac went back on top. The Bobcats were only awarded one power play and it came in the second period.

The Big Green will hit the road for the first time in two weeks as Dartmouth heads to Brown and Yale next weekend. The Bears will be the foe on Friday night at 7 p.m., with the Bulldogs at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
