CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- The No. 4 Harvard men's squash team won matches at the top three slots to hold off a hard, charging No. 9 Dartmouth, 5-4, in Ivy League action Wednesday evening at the Barnaby Courts. The loss is the Big Green's first of the season as Dartmouth is now 4-1 overall, 0-1 in the Ivy League while the Crimson improve to 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the league.

Ted Newhouse (Bronxville, N.Y.) played at No. 1 for the first time this year as Andrew Boumford (Winnipeg, Man.) was out for the Big Green. Harvard's Colin West proved too strong at the spot he's dominated, earning his third straight 3-0 victory to start the season, 9-0, 9-0, 9-0. 

Verdi DiSesa and Niko Hrdy captured victories at the No. 2 and 3 slots, respectively, as DiSesa managed a close 3-1 victory by scores of 9-6, 9-7, 6-9, 9-7 against Big Green rookie Nicholas Sisodia (Chicago, Ill.). Hrdy took a 3-0 victory over Michael Lewis (Santa Barbara, Calif.), winning 9-1, 9-2, 9-1.

At No. 5, Richard Hill came away with a solid 3-0 win in his match against Michael Shrubb (Devonshire, Bermuda) with scores of 9-4, 9-2, 9-5. Daniel Wagman (Pacific Palisades, Calif.) won the first game of his match against William Ahmed but Ahmed was able to outlast Wagman, 3-9, 9-6, 10-8, 9-2.

Dartmouth's Brian O'Toole (Short Hills, N.J.) took a win at No. 4 over Eliot Buchanan by a 3-1 margin (10-8, 7-9, 9-6, 9-0) and the Big Green swept the No. 6-8 slots. At No. 6, Stephen Wetherill (Ambler, Pa.) dropped the first two games to Franklin Cohen, 9-3 and 10-9, but won the final three by scores of 10-9, 9-4, 9-2.  Tyler Young (Charleston, S.C.) defeated Alex Lavoie at the No. 7 in another close match, 3-1, as Young won 10-8, 3-0, 9-5, 10-9.  At the No. 8 position, Luke Lee (Exeter, N.H.) downed the Crimson's Alastair Smith in three straight games, 9-7, 9-4, 9-4.
