Dartmouth Men Cruise to Victory at Own Invitational

HANOVER, N.H. - The Dartmouth men’s track and field team dominated the field at the Dartmouth Outdoor Invitational with 301 total points, which was 218 points better than second place Rensselaer.

The Big Green won 11 events on the afternoon, led by junior Muhammed Abdul-Shakoor (Stone Mountain, Ga.) who started the day off with a win in the 100m dash with a time of 10.88. Senior Tim Edmonds (Glen Mills, Pa.) had an outstanding meet with a second-place finish in the 200m dash and he took home the top spot in the 400 meters with a time of 48.94.

In the 800-meter run, Dartmouth earned the top three spots with sophomore Thomas Robbins (Evanston, Ill.) coming out on top with a time of 1:50.81, while senior Trevor Middleton (New Orleans, La.) and freshman John Turro (Katonah, N.Y.) finishing in the second and third spots. Senior Oliver Townsend (Signal Mountain, Tenn.) won the 1500 meter run with a time of 3:51.31 and the Big Green also went one and two in the 5000 meters. Freshman Ethan Shaw (Falmouth, Maine) ended up on top, crossing the line at 14:38.06 with senior Glenn Randall (Collbran, Colo.) finishing in second at 14:45.06.

Dartmouth saw a top three finish in the 3000 meter steeplechase as junior Chris Zablocki (Essex, Conn.) beat out junior Jason Lyon (Hyannisport, Mass.) and senior Andrew Han (Madison, Wis.) with a finish of 9:25.95. Lyon ran at 9:27.92 and Han crossed the line with a time of 9:35.90.

The Big Green took home the 4 x 100 meter relay with a time of 42.54 and also finished in first in the 4 x 400 meter relay as the team crossed the line at 3:21.63.

Dartmouth won three field events on the afternoon. Junior Ted Lesher (Upper Saddle River, N.J.) had a top finish in the long jump, hitting the pit at 6.9 meters (22-07.75) and won the triple jump at 14.6 meters (47-11). In the Javelin, senior Tim Wunderlich (Westminster, Md.) threw into first place with a toss of 61.15 meters (200-07).

The Big Green will be back in action at the Penn Relays with the three-day event beginning on April 23.
