Jonathan McLaughlin begins the fall of 2009 as the assistant coach for the women's tennis program, replacing Rose Ketmayura-Hanson.
McLaughlin
was the assistant women's coach at the University of Arkansas from
2003-2007 where he coached a two-time All-American and helped lead the
Razorbacks to the NCAA Tournament. As a member of head coach Michael
Hegarty's inaugural staff, he helped turn around a program that had a
42-match Southeastern Conference (SEC) losing streak. In only his
second season, the Razorbacks achieved their first .500 record since
the late 1990s, and by his third season McLaughlin helped guide
Arkansas to its first of several NCAA Tournament berths.
The
Arkansas native graduated from Ouachita Baptist University with a
degree in business administration and was a four-year member of the
Tigers' men's tennis team.
"I'm really excited to have Jon join
the coaching staff at Dartmouth College," said Dallis. "Jon brings a
wealth of experience, a high degree of technical and tactical
knowledge, and a passion for tennis that is going to help the women's
tennis team continue to make great strides at the national level."
"I
can't tell you how happy I am to become a member of the Dartmouth
family," said McLaughlin, who enjoys golf and fishing. "I'm really
looking forward to working with Coach Dallis and our team on and off
the court as we look forward to a successful and exciting 2009-10
season."
