The Friends of Dartmouth Football — more than 1,000 strong and growing — is a major factor in the team’s success, providing support for video equipment, weight room equipment, annual team banquet, part-time coaches’ salaries, travel warm-up gear, championship banners, and other vital needs that cannot be covered by the College’s budget but are essential to operating a first-class varsity program. Many Friends are also actively involved in Dartmouth Football’s annual Career Day and provide career advice, internships, and job opportunities for Big Green players. At home games, Friends are invited to visit the Friends/Sponsors tent for pre- and post-game receptions. Contributors also receive Coach Buddy Teevens’s newsletter and are invited to participate in the annual Dartmouth Football Golf Classic.

Contributions of any amount are gratefully appreciated.

Your Friends donation is tax deductible, is included in the Campaign for the Dartmouth Experience, and will be used exclusively for the support of Dartmouth Football. As a restricted gift, it cannot be credited to the Dartmouth College Fund, which is comprised of unrestricted gifts used across the College.

Friends of Football Golf Classic

The Dartmouth football program's annual Golf Classic helps provide support for one of the Ivy League's most successful programs. The 14th annual Dartmouth Football Golf Classic was held on June 18, 2011 at Hanover Country Club. The event brings together many former Big Green players, coaches and friends of the football program for an afternoon of golf and camaraderie. This year, more than $80,000 was raised through this special event. Proceeds from the annual outing are used for a variety of program improvements. These funds also help meet the cost of salaries for part-time assistant coaches and professional development opportunities for the Dartmouth football staff. Anyone interested in playing in the 15th Friends Golf Classic (June 16, 2012 at Hanover CC) or providing sponsorship support should contact the Dartmouth Football Office at (603) 646-2467. Interested parties can also register for the event online.

Friends of Football Pre/Post Game Tent

For each home football game, all Friends of Dartmouth Football are invited to visit the Friends/Sponsors tent for pre- and post-game festivities. The tent is located in the Northwest corner of the stadium near the scoreboard. Food and beverages are available for all Friends and Sponsors before and after the game. The football team shares the tent with us during their post-game meal and it is a great opportunity to meet the players and their families. Classmates, friends and family are welcome!

Special Programs

Under Coach Buddy Teevens, many great programs have been established that focus on the future of Dartmouth football players. One of the most successful:

Interviews, Internships, Jobs -- Many alumni have volunteered and participated in a program that helps Dartmouth players explore different career fields with informational interviews, secure off-campus internships (usually during sophomore winter-spring), and generally helps Big Green student-athletes plan for their futures. This formalized relationship with alumni, and their business and professional organizations, gives Dartmouth football players greater opportunities to identify undergraduate internships and post-college job opportunities.

Identifying Outstanding Prospects

If you know of outstanding prospective student-athletes in your area, please send information such as newspaper clippings to Coach Buddy Teevens, or email information to dartmouthfootballrecruiting@dartmouth.edu and let him take it from there. Reminder -- You may not contact prospects directly, nor may you contact high school coaches or guidance counselors to get information on prospects, but there is no rule against attending their contests.

Dartmouth Athletic Sponsor Program

More than 1200 Dartmouth alumni, parents, and other supporters are currently members of the Athletic Sponsor Program, which provides vital recruiting resources for all of the Athletic Department's varsity sports. The Sponsor Program is the sole source of funds for bringing more than 200 top athletic prospects to the campus each year for a first-hand view of the Dartmouth Experience. Additional Sponsor funds are allocated for coaches' recruiting trips, cell phones, and recruiting vehicles. In the event gifts exceed expenses, a portion of the unexpended gifts may also be transferred into a fund for long-term support of our coaches' recruiting efforts.  (Click here for a complete description of the fund including provisions for alternate uses.)

All Sponsors receive the award-winning monthly newsletter, Big Green Sports News, providing the latest news and features on all Dartmouth varsity teams. In addition, members are welcome to attend tent receptions prior to home football games, and local Sponsors are invited to an annual picnic to kick off the Big Green athletic season with Dartmouth coaches and student-athletes. The names of all current Sponsors are recognized in the game programs for home football games.

Contributions of any amount are gratefully appreciated, but please note the following membership levels and benefits:

$100-$299:
$300-$599: Assigned a specific recruit every 3-4 years
$600-$1199: Assigned a specific recruit every 1-2 years
$1200-$4999: Assigned recruit annually; special notation in football program
$5000-$10,000:  Assigned recruit annually; VIP Reception; special recognition in program

Your contribution is tax deductible and is included in the Campaign for the Dartmouth Experience.
