Enriquez is beginning his fifth season with the Dartmouth baseball team, coaching the outfielders while assisting with the hitters and recruiting. From 2000-04, Enriquez was an instructor for NorCal Baseball and assisted on the junior team that won the 2002 AAU National Championship. He instructed at the Aldrete Baseball Academy from 1997-00 and has worked extensively at camps at Stanford University. During his first four seasons with the Big Green, eight Dartmouth positional players have earned All-Ivy recognition a total of 12 times. Outfielders Damon Wright ’08 and Nick Santomauro ’10 were both not only named to the All-Ivy first team, but All-New England first team and ABCA All-Region second team as well.Wright was also picked in the 23rd round of the MLB First-Year Draft in 2008. “Nick has become one of the best and most versatile assistants I’ve ever had,” commented head coach Bob Whalen. “He assists in virtually every aspect of our program from team offense and defense, is specifically responsible for coaching the outfielders, and is directly involved with every aspect of recruiting and developing our hitters.”
A 2001 graduate of Menlo College, in Atherton, Calif., with a degree in business administration, Enriquez was a four-year letterman and two-year starter in the infield for the Oaks. After graduating, he was hired by his alma mater as the sports information director and assistant baseball coach from August 2001 until October 2004. Menlo set a school record for victories during his second season on the coaching staff. He also served as the sports information director for the 12-team California Pacific Conference during 2003-04. During two summers while coaching at Menlo, Enriquez came East to coach the Amsterdam (N.Y.) Mohawks of the New York Collegiate Baseball League. He served as an assistant in 2002 before taking the reins as the head coach the following year, leading the Mohawks to a 62-30 record and a pair of league championships during his tenure. From August 1999 to October 2004, Enriquez served as an associate scout in Northern California for the Houston Astros. He also worked with the MLB Roadshow from May-August 2001, providing instruction to local teams in England, Germany, Holland, the Czech Republic and Scotland. Enriquez, who is the godfather to the daughter of assistant coach George Roig, is single and currently resides in Hanover. |
