Ruff is a native of Sun Valley, Idaho and member of a renowned skiing family. A ten-year veteran of the U.S. Ski Team coaching staff, Ruff coached numerous World Cup and World Championship teams, and was a coach for three Winter Olympic Games (1980 Lake Placid, New York; 1984 Sarajevo, Yugoslavia; 1988 Calgary, Canada). He graduated from the University of Colorado with a bachelor's degree distributed in molecular biology, chemistry and psychology. In 1989 Ruff moved to Hanover and began coaching with the Dartmouth Ski Team where he hopes to leave his mark as an inspirational coach.
