Barnett’s 22 Points Not Enough for Dartmouth Men’s Basketball

Boxscore

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Sophomore Alex Barnett (St. Louis, Mo.) scored a career-high 22 points, but it wasn’t enough as Harvard took a 77-71 victory over Dartmouth in Ivy League men’s basketball action Friday night.

Barnett had 11 rebounds, along with four assists, three steals and two blocked shots, but Dartmouth couldn’t hold onto a 34-33 halftime lead. The Big Green (6-8 overall, 1-1 Ivy) dropped only its second game in the last eight contests.

Harvard (8-8 overall, 1-1 Ivy) was led by 7-0 center Brian Cusworth with 20 points and 17 rebounds. Five other Crimson players were in double figures, including Jeremy Lin who tallied all of his 12 points in the second half when Harvard outscored Dartmouth, 44-37.

One of the keys to the game was the foul line. The Crimson went 27-of-38 for the game, including 18-of-25 in the second half. Cusworth was 10-for-12, while Dartmouth as a team was 7-of-11.

Also in double figures for Dartmouth were senior Leon Pattman (Memphis, Tenn.) with 13 and senior Jason Meyer (Covington, Ohio) with 12.

The Big Green returns to action on Tuesday, January 16, hosting the University of New Hampshire at 7 p.m.
