Assistant Coach - Third Season

Johan Cedergren is entering his third season as the first assistant for the Dartmouth men’s soccer team, helping the squad to NCAA Tournaments in each of his two previous years.

With Cedergren on the sidelines since 2007, Dartmouth has posted a 22-10-5 record, 10-2-2 in Ivy League play, winning the Ivy title in 2008. The Big Green was just shy of the 2007 Ivy title during his first season at the helm.

In two years, Cedergren has helped mentor 13 All-Ivy selections while expanding the Big Green’s recruiting base both nationally and internationally.

Cedergren graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 2001 and played for Coach Cook during his five-year stint with the Bearcats.

"We are delighted to have Johan joining our staff," said Cook at the time of his hiring. "He was an outstanding player at Cincinnati and I am very proud of his accomplishments since then. I look forward to all he will bring to Dartmouth soccer."

During his time at Cincinnati, Cedergren earned distinction as a three-year letter-winner and All-Conference USA selection. He was team captain and a key member of the team that advanced to the NCAA tournament in 1998 and was ranked in the National Top-20 in 1999.

After graduating, Cedergren spent a year as an assistant coach at the University of Cincinnati prior to completing his MBA in finance at Xavier University. He also coached extensively with the Cincinnati Classics Soccer Club. He earned his Level One and Level Two coaching diplomas from the Swedish Football Federation.

Cedergren is a native of Solvesborg, Sweden where he earned distinction as one of that country’s most outstanding youth soccer players.

Cedergren currently resides in Hanover with his wife, Julia, and son, Gavin (3).
