The  Fitness and Lifestyle Improvement Program (FLIP), a division of the Dartmouth College Athletic Department, is dedicated to providing a variety of health and fitness classes.  The program is open to all Dartmouth College undergraduate and graduate students, Dartmouth College employees, Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center employees, and Upper Valley residents. The program is designed to increase overall general fitness and health awareness within the college community.

Program Policies 

A signed medical/ informed consent/release form, and full payment must be received by us to be fully registered and to participate in a FLIP class.   A physician's approval  may be required for participation in FLIP classes.   No registration will be taken over the telephone, but please call  (646-3903) with questions.

YOU MUST SHOW YOUR FLIP CARD OR GYM FACILITIES ID FOR ENTRY INTO THE ALUMNI GYM. If you did not get a FLIP Card at registration, come to the PE/FLIP Office  in Room 167 of Alumni Gym.

Anyone not registered in classes by  April 10, 2012 may be asked to wait until the 5 week session.

 • NO REFUNDS AFTER  April 10, 2012.

 • Due to space restrictions, you may attend only the class you  register for.

 • Because of  liability, only those registered in Winter CLASSES will be allowed to participate.  If you wish to bring a guest to class, you must get permission from the instructor and Fitness Director beforehand.  If permission is given, guest must complete the medical/informed consent/release form  in Room 167 of Alumni Gym and pay $5.00. 

 •  No children are allowed to accompany a participant to class.

 • Occasionally a class has to be cancelled or switched to another area at the last minute.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause  We will post a note on the door or have someone  direct you to the proper room, and also post a message in Blitz Bulletins under  "Athletics - FLIP".   In most cases, you will be contacted via e-mail by your instructor or our office so it is imperative  that we have your correct e-mail address on the medical form.

Anthem Reimbursement

Anthem members can receive a reimbursement from their medical plan for the expense of joining FLIPclasses. The maximum is $200 annually. For information ask at FLIP Registration or call Hugh at 646-3903.

Two ways to Register -

 1.   MAIL -Print out a copy of the Medical/Informed Consent/Release form and the Registration Form.  Complete the form(s), enclose your payment and  mail  to our office.  If  you are a past participant and have an uptodate medical form (within the past year), you only need to send in the registration form and check.

2.   WALK-IN - We will begin walk-in registration on Wednesday, March 21, from 8:00 am-4:30 pm Alumni Gym - Room 167.   

Registration for last 5 weeks is Wednesday,May 2, 2012 from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm in Room 167 of Alumni Gym.  Not all classes will be available for the 5 week registration.

REGISTRATION FOR UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS will be on-line in Banner from Thursday , March 8, 2012 through Thursday, April 12, 2012.

As the season unfolds around us , this workshop will explore the natural pleasure of curling and uncurling ourselves. With a focus on a smooth vinyasa flow between twisting poses, we'll  work on unlocking our bodies in an energizing cycle of beginnings and endings.

Bio

          Marie is a highly acclaimed teacher  who has taught hundreds of enthusiastic and devoted students for the past twelve years. Raised in France, She danced professionally for 20 years with Crowsnest, Martha Clarke, and Pilobolus as well as leading modern dance companies in Paris.  

            Marie has studied yoga with Rodney Yee,  Ana Forrest,  Baron Baptiste, Shiva Rea, and Linda Hiller among others. Marie's teaching offers a unique approach, in the Vinyasa Style, to the ancient practice of hatha yoga with elements of Iyengar,  Ashtanga, and Pilates. Marie focuses on awareness of the breath, the flow of movement through the poses, and precise alignment. Marie brings her passionate presence and intuitive intelligence of the body to create a unique and challenging practice of yoga.

 

 

 

 

  

 

 


 

 PERSONAL TRAINING WITH FLIP

 

Individual one-on-one training to develop your Fitness or Rehab Program.

As a part of our Personal Training Services, the FLIP program provides training for members of our community who may need special attention with concerns such as arthritis, musculoskeletal disfunction, back pain, post rehab conditioning and metabolic conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure or cholesterol. With careful individual program design, safe and effective physical activity can be achieved to improve and maintain fitness, health,  and a quality of life.
