Dartmouth baseball continued their winning ways on their six-game trip to the Dominican Republic. The Big Green beat the New York Mets baseball academy team 4-0 in a six-inning game. Senior co-captain Robert Young (Cleburne, Texas) got the start and struck out six in three innings to get the win.

Dartmouth scored one run in the first inning. Jim Wren (Granbury, Texas) reached first on a fielder's choice and scored when Nick Santomauro's (North Caldwell, N.J.) single got past the Mets leftfielder.

Dartmouth got two more in the second. Co-captain Jack Monahan (Overland Park, Kan.) walked and went to third on Kyle Evans' (Springfield, Mo.) double to left. Monahan came in on a wild pitch and Evans came in on Jake Carlson's (Woodlands, Texas) single to left.

Dartmouth made it 4-0 in the fourth. Freshman Joe Sclafani (Palm City, Fla.) reached first on an error and went to third on Jason Brooks's (Westlake Village, Calif.) double. Sclafani scored when Evans grounded to short.

Freshman Marco Mariscal (El Cajon, Calif.) relieved in the fourth. The freshman left hander gave up no hits, struck out three, and picked off a runner in two scoreless innings of work. Sophomore Ryan Smith (Greenlawn, N.Y.) relieved in the sixth and struck out two to close out the second shutout of the trip.

Dartmouth finishes on Wednesday with one more game against the Mets. Freshman Kyle Hendricks (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.) gets the start. The Big Green fly home on Thursday morning.
