• Register online for Elite or Day Camp (credit card payment) ELITE CAMP Ages 14-18 • June 26 - June 29 Overnight: $450 • Commuters: $325 Brochure The Elite Camp session of Chris Wielgus Basketball School is for the committed basketball player, ages 14-18, who is serious about improving her skills and playing basketball at the collegiate level. The camp will combine work on fundamental skills with position-specific instruction as well as game competition. Instruction will be offered by the Dartmouth women’s basketball staff, Dartmouth players and other experienced collegiate coaches from a variety of schools including: Bowdoin, Colby, University of Chicago, Merrimack, Middlebury, Skidmore and Wesleyan, among others. Campers at the Chris Wielgus Basketball School will get a college basketball experience, staying in the dorms and playing in Dartmouth’s Leede Arena. The camp will create a competitive but fun environment that encourages development in passionate athletes. Sessions will focus on individual skill development and team concepts including five-on-five competition. In addition to the quality level of instruction and competition, campers will learn what to expect during the recruiting process. DAY CAMP The
day camp session of Chris Wielgus Basketball School is for players ages
8-13. The focus will be on the teaching and development of fundamental
skills under the supervision of the Dartmouth coaching staff. The camp
strives to ensure that young players develop an enjoyment of the game
of basketball! Chris Wielgus is entering her 25th season as the head coach of Dartmouth College women’s basketball and her 27th as a collegiate head coach. She is widely renowned as an expert strategist and teacher of the game. This past season, 2008-09, Wielgus led Dartmouth to its 17th Ivy League Championship and the 12th under her direction. She reached the 400-win mark in her career and secured the Big Green’s fifth-straight postseason appearance with a bid to the 2009 NCAA Women’s Basketball Championship. Wielgus first began her association with Dartmouth in 1976, quickly turning the fledgling program into the Ivy’s elite, with four championships by 1983. She began her second stint at Dartmouth in 1993 and picked up where she left off. Since her return, Dartmouth has won eight more Ivy titles and finished third or better in Ivy play in 19 of her last 21 seasons. During her 24 seasons at Dartmouth, Wielgus has mentored seven Ivy League Players of the Year, seven Rookies of the Year, 77 All-Ivy honorees and 27 first team All-Ivy honorees. Mary Gleason: In just two seasons on the Dartmouth sideline, Gleason has helped the Big Green win a pair of Ivy Championships and earn an NCAA Tournament bid in 2009. Gleason has a wealth of nationwide experience in the collegiate game. A native Texan and 1995 graduate off Southern Methodist, Gleason has also coached at NYU and Princeton and played professionally in Switzerland and Spain from 1997-2000. Since arriving in Hanover, Gleason has coached four All-Ivy honorees recognized six times. Leah Foster has just completed her first season with Dartmouth, helping the Big Green take the 2009 Ivy League title. Prior to her arrival in Hanover, Foster spent two seasons at Texas State helping the program to a 39-23 mark while earning her master’s degree in physical education and sports management. Foster graduated from St. Edward’s University in 2006, where she was an all-conference player. The three Dartmouth coaches are joined by various collegiate coaches and players to bring a wide breadth of experience to campers.
