Jay Margherio was a varsity swimmer all four years he attended New Canaan High School in Connecticut.  For his school, Jay was All-FCIAC four years straight, sophomore through senior year he was named All-State and All-American.  For his club YMCA team he was a 4-time YMCA All-American, a 4-time YMCA Record Holder, he was in the Connecticut Top 16 all four years, and he holds the 400 and 200 Free Relay record.  Aside from swimming, Jay was in the National Honors Society and he was a member of the Service League of Boys.  At Dartmouth, Jay wants to study Chemical Engineering.

Jay is the son of John and Eileen Margherio and he has one sister.
