DRESS - The weather in this part of the country is very unpredictable and is subject to rapid change. Often conditions at the mountain may greatly differ from those in town. BE PREPARED! Dressing in layers will allow you the greatest flexibility to adapt to changing conditions. As a guideline, have a layer next to the skin that will wick moisture away from the body. Your second layer(s) should provide warmth and insulation. The outer layer should have a windproof, waterproof and breathable nature. Items often forgotten are your ASTM approved Helmet, face protection (neck gaiter, scarf or face mask); eye protection (sunglasses and/or goggles with 100% U/V protection); skin protection (chapstick, skin cream, tissues); hand/feet protection (dry gloves, glove liners, dry socks, hand and foot heat packs).
It will be most convenient to obtain a bag large enough to accommodate your boots, extra clothes, and any accessories needed. Again, make sure your name is boldly marked on your bag. Leave valuables in your dorm. Lockers are available in the Lodge.
-
Daily Ski Lift Ticket - It is required that everyone obtains a lift pass each day that they ski. Your student ID will be encoded with your season lift pass on you first visit . Hand it face up and toward the person at the ticket window. When you receive your ticket, immediately step to the side so that others behind you may be helped. Attach your ticket, date out, on the left side of the garment that you will have on for the rest of the day. Please throw the paper backing in the trash cans provided. Those who do not have their ID with them will not get a ticket.
-
Classes - Gather your equipment and meet in front of the lodge at your assigned class time. There you will be broken up into small groups of like ability. Make sure to give your lesson/bus pass number to your instructor after you have been divided into your smaller groups.
After your first lesson, you are welcome to come early or stay late to get some practice time in. Remember to allow time enough to get down the mountain and gather your things before the bus departs. We hope that your mountain alpine experience will give you a lifetime of enjoyment and fitness. If you have any suggestions or comments, please come talk to us.
