FLIP FALL SCHEDULE 2009

September 28-December 19
(No classes the week of Thanksgiving)

 

The  Fitness and Lifestyle Improvement Program, a division of the Dartmouth College Athletic Department, is dedicated to providing a variety of health and fitness classes.  The program is open to all Dartmouth College undergraduate and graduate students, Dartmouth College employees, Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center employees, and Upper Valley residents. The program is designed to increase overall general fitness and health awareness within the college community.

 

Program Policies

 

A medical form, informed consent/release form, and full payment must be received by us to be fully registered and to participate in a FLIP class. This is a simple form that we give you at registration.....you DO NOT need a form from your physician.  No registration will be taken over the telephone, but please call with questions.

 

PLEASE SHOW YOUR FLIP CARD OR GYM FACILITIES ID FOR ENTRY INTO THE ALUMNI GYM. If you do not have a FLIP Card...come to PE/FLIP Office / Room 167 Alumni Gym.

 

• Anyone not registered in classes by  October 5, 2009 may be asked to wait until the 5 week session.

 

NO REFUNDS AFTER OCTOBER 2, 2009.

 

A physician’s approval may be required for participation in FLIP classes.

 

• Due to space restrictions, you may attend only the class you register for.

 

• Because of medical liability, only those registered in FALL FLIP CLASSES will be allowed to participate.  Guests may OBSERVE but not participate.

 

  No children are allowed to accompany a participant to class.

 

• Occasionally a class has to be cancelled or switched to another area at the last minute.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.  We will post a note on the door or have someone  direct you to the proper room, and also post a message in Blitz Bulletins under

“Athletics - FLIP”.

 

BlueChoice Reimbursement

 

BlueChoice members can receive a reimbursement from their medical plan for the expense of joining FLIPclasses. The maximum is $200 annually. For information ask at FLIP Registration or call Hugh at 646-3903.

 

 

REGISTRATION

 

 Three ways to Register - 

 1.   Participants in FLIP with a current Medical Form may register through the   
       mail.  Print out a copy of the
  Registration Form below.  Complete the form,  
       enclose your
payment and drop it off at our office or mail to:

2.   Anyone can come to Registration Day / Wednesday, September 16, from

      7:30 am-5:00 pm Alumni Gym.  Graduate students and spouses may

      register at this time.  After this date, please come to PE/FLIP Office

      (Room 167 in Alumni Gym) to register.

 

3.  Undergraduate Student Registration will be on-line at Banner from 8:00 am

     on September 24 until 11:00 pm on October 1.

Registration for last 5 weeks is Wednesday, November 4, from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm in Room 167 of Alumni Gym.

Includes:  Aerobic Deep Water w/Strength Training, Body & Soul Fitness After 50, Hip Hop, Kardio Konditioning, Kickbox Aerobics, Meditation, NIA, Spin Strength Abs, Step, Strength Training, Torso Fitness, Total Body Circuit Interval Training

SPECIALTY CLASSES
Includes:  AdrenaZen, Dance, Fitness Conditioning for Teens, Fly Fishing, Gyrokinesis, Pilates, Rowing, Spinning, Swimming, T'ai Chi, Yoga

    A Balancing Act

    Saturday, October 10, 2009

    10:30 am-1:30 pm

 

     How do we balance the directions of our lives?

     How do we balance the directions of our movements?

     Are we overworked in some, and undeveloped in others?

     From Mountain Pose to forward bends to backbends to side stretches and twists, this

     workshop will explore how to orchestrate a well-rounded practice that keeps our hearts,

     minds, and bodies open in all directions to the universe around us.

PERSONAL TRAINING WITH FLIP

 

Individual one-on-one training to develop your Fitness or Rehab Program.

 

As a part of our Personal Training Services, the FLIP program provides training for members of our community who may need special attention with concerns such as arthritis, musculoskeletal disfunction, back pain, post rehab conditioning and metabolic conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure or cholesterol. With careful individual program design, safe and effective physical activity can be achieved to improve and maintain fitness, health,  and a quality of life.
