HANOVER, N.H. –
Belle Koclanes, the Gail Koziara Boudreaux '82 and Family Head Coach of Women's Basketball has announced the 2019-20 schedule.
The Big Green came one victory short of reaching the Ivy League Tournament last season. This year, Dartmouth has their sights set on getting over the hump and making it to Lavietes Pavilion on the campus of Harvard University for Ivy Madness beginning on March 14th.
"We are very excited to release our 2019-20 schedule," Koclanes said. "This year's slate includes a fair share of familiar northeast opponents while also welcoming brand new challenges to the table. Our local fan base will have the opportunity to support us against Merrimack and Texas State for the very first time in Leede Arena, while also providing incredible energy for our local rivalries."
"Our highlighted trip this season brings us to Chicago for
Annie McKenna's homecoming. We know that Annie's entire Irish family will be filling the stands at Loyola Chicago and Northwestern," Koclanes added. "Each one of these 13 games will serve our team well in preparing us for Ivy League play. It is going to be another competitive season for our DWB family as we continue to have our mind on 18."
Dartmouth gets the season started with consecutive home games beginning with local rivals Vermont (Nov. 5) and Merrimack (Nov. 13), who is in its first season as a D1 program.
From there, the Big Green play four straight on the road with the first two in the northeast against Fairfield (Nov. 17) and Manhattan (Dec. 1). Dartmouth then travels to the windy city to face the Ramblers of Loyola Chicago (Dec. 4) before taking on Big 10 foe Northwestern (Dec. 7). This trip will be a homecoming for senior guard
Annie McKenna, who hails from Elmwood Park, Ill.
The Big Green return to New England for a home contest against the defending America East Conference champion Maine Black Bears (Dec. 10). Dartmouth will then make a short bus ride down to UMass Lowell (Dec. 13). Two straight home games are up next beginning with the first-ever meeting with Texas State (Dec. 15) followed by Granite State rival New Hampshire (Dec. 18).
Dartmouth wraps up its non-conference portion of the schedule with three road games at Boston University (Dec. 21), defending MAC champion Buffalo (Dec. 29), who advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament, and Loyola Maryland (Dec. 31).
Ivy League play tips off on January 11th at Leede arena when the Big Green play the first of two consecutive meetings against Harvard who advanced to the second round of the WNIT a season ago.
The familiar conference slate of Friday and Saturday games gets going with four straight at home beginning with the defending Ivy League Champion Princeton (Jan. 31) followed by Penn (Feb. 1), who also made it to the second round of the WNIT, Brown (Feb. 7) and Yale (Feb. 8). Dartmouth then hits the road for Columbia (Feb. 14) and Cornell (Feb. 15), followed by Penn (Feb. 21) and Princeton (Feb. 22).
The final home weekend pits the Big Green against Cornell (Feb. 28) and Columbia with Senior Day against the Lions (Feb. 29). Dartmouth will hope to make a final push to the Ivy League Tournament in its final weekend of the season at Yale (Mar. 6) and Brown (Mar. 7).
