Montcalm, founded by Dartmouth and Tuck Business School graduate Andrew Sigler, became the home of the men’s and women’s golf teams in 2021.
Awarded a Golf Digest award in 2005 as one of the top 10 Best New Private Courses in the country, Montcalm was again acknowledged in 2007 by the magazine as one of the Best in State. It continually receives rave reviews from members and guests who enjoy the complete privacy and exquisite beauty that is Montcalm.
The club itself spans 358 remote acres, and the 6,829-yard course moves further away from civilization as soon as you hit your first tee shot. Adherence to the Donald Ross philosophy of maintaining as much of the land’s natural character as possible required finding creative solutions for the varied terrain. While the natural layout could easily challenge a PGA professional, playability and challenges are ensured for golfers of all levels.
The course’s remote setting was a purposeful choice by its founder, who wanted to build a unique and immaculate course where conditions and maintenance would take precedence over all else. This was achieved by choosing an exclusive location that required a mile-long drive through a gated entry to reach the clubhouse and course. An environment was created where conditions would be optimal throughout the playing season.
