NEW YORK, N.Y. – In June, the Sports Business Journal announced their 2024 40 under 40 class. Of the honorees is Andrew Nacario, a 2007 Dartmouth graduate who earned his B.A. in government and played outfield for the Big Green and Head Coach
Bob Whalen.
Immediately after graduating, Nacario started working at CAA as its first sports agent trainee. Seven years later, he became CAA's first baseball employee, working out of Nashville.
Now with 16 years under his belt and the agency's Co-Head of Baseball, Nacario has built CAA's baseball department to nine employees in the Nashville office and as a whole, negotiated over $6 billion in MLB contracts.
Nacario's most notable deal came in 2022, when he wrote the script for free agent Trea Turner's video, narrated by John Hamm.
While Nacario's goal for the video was to excite fans, it also generated excitement in front offices, providing a more engaging way to view Turner's highlight reel. The video led to Turner signing a $300 million contract with the Philadelphia Phillies, also generating over a million views online.
This past year, Nacario was a part of another monumental deal, helping left fielder Bryan Reynolds reach an eight year, $106.75 million contract with the Pittsburgh Pirates, the richest deal in franchise history.
In addition to getting paid, Nacario's CAA clients have immense success on the field; 133 All-Star appearances, five MVPs, six Cy Young winners, eight rookie of the year winners, 31 Silver Sluggers, and 30 Gold Gloves just to name a few.
They've also had impressive success in the draft and development spaces, garnering 72 first-round selections and 67 futures game participants.
As a member of the Big Green, Nacario hit .257, collecting 61 hits, scoring 28 runs, knocking six doubles and 27 RBI in 70 career games.
