CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Harvard took a 14-0 lead at halftime and rolled in the second half, defeating Dartmouth, 42-14, on a blustery, snowy day at Harvard Stadium.

Penalties and missed opportunities plagued the Big Green in the loss. Dartmouth falls to 2-5, 1-3 Ivy while Harvard improves to 4-3, 2-2 Ivy.

"We knew it was going to be a challenge today," said head coach Buddy Teevens. "One of our goals is to always play a complete game and we didn't do that today. We had too many mental and physical breakdowns. We've seen Harvard play all year on film and that was the best game they've had."

Crimson quarterback Liam O'Hagan connected with Ryan Tyler midway through the first quarter for the first Harvard score while Clifton Dawson, enroute to breaking Harvard's all-time rushing record, ran for the other touchdown at 10:48 in the second.

The Harvard lead at halftime didn't appear insurmountable until the Crimson's Dawson returned the kickoff 92 yards for a 21-0 lead with 16 seconds into the third quarter.

Dartmouth's first strike came off a Josh Cohen (Berwyn, Pa.) 13-yard pass to Ryan Fuselier (Escondido, Calif.) at 11:42 of the third. A 67-yard drive set up the next Harvard score as O'Hagan ran it in at 10:02. Just 52 seconds later, Harvard capitalized on a Dartmouth fumble as Dawson ran 32 yards for a 35-7 advantage after three periods.

O'Hagan had the Crimson's touchdown in the fourth quarter, scoring on a three-yard keeper, as Harvard took advantage of an interception by Steve Williams. Dartmouth freshman Milan Williams (Mobile, Ala.) had a two-yard run at 3:31 to account for all the scoring.

Fuselier finished with seven catches for 67 yards and one touchdown while Williams carried four times for 48 yards.

Dawson had 23 carries for 103 yards and two touchdowns for the Crimson.

Dartmouth will be back in action on Saturday, November 5, when it hosts Cornell at Memorial Field.
