Dartmouth Men's Hockey Defeats Brown, 3-2
Nov. 18, 2005
HANOVER, N.H. - Dartmouth (2-4-0, 2-4-0) scored three first period goals en route to a 3-2 victory over Brown (2-3-0, 2-3-0) on Friday evening at Thompson Arena. The Bears came back, scoring with less than three minutes to go in the contest, but the Big Green held on for the win.
Dartmouth took the first lead of the game, just 1:17 into the contest when Eric Przepiorka (Grosse Pointe, Mich.) knocked the puck past sophomore Adam D'Alba on his stick side off a centering pass from J.T. Wyman (Wayzata, Minn.). Tanner Glass (Craven, Sask.) took the initial shot with the rebound landing in front of Wyman. The Big Green increased its lead to 2-0 at 8:45 of the first, when David Jones (North Vancouver, B.C.) scored on Dartmouth's first power-play chance of the night. A cross-ice pass by Sean Offers (St. Albert, Alta.) was taken off a rebounded shot by Nick Johnson (Calgary, Alta.), passing out to Jones. With just four seconds remaining in the period, the Big Green added its third of the night, also on the power-play, when Mike Ouellette (Kamloops, B.C.) came in off the bench and one-timed the puck into the net from the blue-line after Brown had attempted to ice it. The goal was Ouellette's first of the year and assists went to Przepiorka and rookie John Gibson.
The second period was more of the same, with Dartmouth dominating the Bears. Jarrett Robertson put Brown on the board with 7:30 remaining in the period. The Big Green killed off a 5-on-3 penalty late in the stanza.
With just 6:22 left in the contest a major penalty and a game misconduct on Glass gave the Bears another 5-on-3 opportunity. Sean Hurley got the Bears back in the game after tallying a goal off a pass from Eric Slais on the two-man advantage at 17:05. The Bears pulled D'Alba for the extra attacker with 30 seconds remaining, but Brown couldn't net the tying goal.
In net for Dartmouth, Mike Devine picked up his second win of the year and made 17 saves. D'Alba finished with 35 saves as Brown was outshot 38-19 for the game. The Big Green will be back in action tomorrow, hosting the Yale Bulldogs in a 7:00 pm matchup.
