Dartmouth Men's Hockey Loses to St. Lawrence, 6-4

CANTON, N.Y. - The Dartmouth men's hockey team tied the game late in the third but it wasn't enough as St. Lawrence held on for the 6-4 win in Canton, N.Y. Sophomore J.T. Wyman (Wayzata, Minn.) had a career-high three points for the Big Green. Wyman and Eric Przepiorka (Grosse Pointe, Mich.) accounted for six of Dartmouth's nine points on the night.

Dartmouth is now 3-5 overall and in the league while the Saints improved to 10-3, 6-1 ECACHL.

The Saints scored quickly, just :49 into the contest. The puck was sent down into the Dartmouth end as Kyle Rank passed across the ice in front of the Dartmouth nets. Max Taylor shot a wrister that sailed just past Big Green netminder Mike Devine (Orchard Park, N.Y.), putting SLU up 1-0. Przepiorka evened things up at 16:02 when he raced down the ice after receiving a mid-ice pass from Wyman. The goal was Przepioka's fifth of the season. Ben Lovejoy also assisted.

St. Lawrence took the lead again with 1:12 left in the first stanza off a power play strike by Rank. It was the first extra-man goal the Big Green has given up in its opponent's last nine tries.

The Saints took a two-goal lead three minutes into the second when Mark Wallmann shot high on Devine who made the save but allowed the puck to bounce behind him and in.

The Big Green got one back just 1:32 later when a streaking Prezpiorka brought the puck down, passing to Wyman from behind the net as the sophomore shot the puck stick-side on SLU goalie Justin Pesony.

SLU again went up by two with :59 left in the second stanza. Another save by Devine went behind the sophomore and was tipped in Mike Zbriger.

Dartmouth made it a game, scoring with 8:17 remaining in the contest. Grant Lewis (Upper St. Clair, Pa.) cleared the puck out to Sean Offers (St. Albert, Alta.) who was waiting just outside the right side circle. The senior capitalized for his first goal of the season. Then Wyman scored his second of the night, getting the equalizer at 7:05.

The Saints went ahead again on the gamewinner by Charlie Griffin at 4:46 and then added an insurance empty net goal by Matt Generous with :52 left in the game.

Devine finished with a career-high 33 saves while Pesony had 19.

Dartmouth will be back in action tomorrow night in a 7:00 pm matchup with Clarkson in Potsdam, N.Y.
