CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Senior Jeannie Cullen (Janesville, Wis.) had a career-high 35 points as the Dartmouth women's basketball team raced past Harvard, 91-76, in the Ivy opener for both teams. The win was the 300th at Dartmouth for head coach Chris Wielgus who now has 337 career victories. Cullen nailed seven three-pointers and added six rebounds and four assists. Sophomore Sydney Scott (Houston, Texas) had a career-high 24 points and 11 rebounds.
Senior Angie Soriaga (College Station, Texas) added 18 points and five assists. With the win, the Big Green improves to 8-3 overall, 1-0 Ivy, while the Crimson falls to 4-10 overall and 0-1 in the Ancient Eight.
Dartmouth led by 15 points at the half, 48-33, and then opened the second period with a 22-7 run to take a 30-point lead at 70-40 with 12:54 to go after a Soriaga layup.
Harvard then went on a 30-8 spurt to make it 78-70 with 2:02 to go. Dartmouth converted its free throws down the stretch to put the game away.
The Big Green will be in action again on Wednesday, January 11, when it hosts New Hampshire at 7:00 p.m.
