Head Coach Chris Wielgus
On ball control, fewer turnovers
"I think we learned a lot about ourselves today. We are evolving. They were able to do great things against Duke last night and carried it over into today. The screening and movement are better. They are dribbling less and passing more, which is our style and it takes time. They played really well together tonight and that's to their credit."
Points in the paint
"Well actually our game plan was to give the posts more to do and less concentration inside. They are so determined to score on the block that we decided to set more screens and slowly get to the block. Sydney Scott, Darcy Rose and Margaret Smith are all very mobile and we used that to combat Dayton's strength."
Defensive effort
"We did a remarkable job on Strong [who had 24 against Boston], limiting her to eight. However we were more concerned with the inside game. We saw that they were able to get the ball inside against BU and we wanted to protect the paint. Their shooters got away from us a little as we got tired, but we did a great job on Strong."
On the tournament/notoriety
"The tournament has been in this slot for a while now. It used to be around Thanksgiving time and we stopped that because there are too many tournaments then and it becomes a bidding war. The way we do it now is a nice alternative for teams. It's a great preparation for us for Ivies. We just went back-to-back with Duke and Dayton and managed to produce, which is a great confidence boost. Also, our players' families can come and the players can spend time with them. Family is important to us – our players are geographically dispersed, but they get home for the holidays and then get back with their families here."
On the play of Kristen Craft
"We need her to come off the bench and contribute, which she has been doing. She has been getting better every game."
Kristen Craft, junior guard
On her offense tonight (10 points, 4-of-6 shooting)
"I think it helps when you hit the first shot to get some confidence – I was just open so I shot and it helps when it goes in. I know I need to become more of a threat offensively – I can't come in and have zero points off the bench. I just hit my shots tonight. I have taken the same shots, they just weren't going in before."
Darcy Rose, sophomore forward
On her offensive output (14 points, 2 assists)
"I've actually been trying to focus more on the defensive end and I think as I play well there it helps to get me going on the offensive end. Moving around and screening a lot helps me to get open more as well."
Post defense
"Last night against Alison Bales (Duke) and tonight, both these teams had strong posts and I knew I had to be tough on defense."
