HANOVER, N.H. - Mercyhurst jumped out to a 4-0 lead after the first period and Dartmouth could not recover as the Big Green fell to the Lakers, 7-0, on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action at Thompson Arena.
For Mercyhurst (14-3-2), Meghan Agosta set the pace scoring the first two goals of the contest and adding an assist in the second period. The Lakers had six different scorers in the game. Valerie Chouinard posted a goal and an assist, while Cheyenne Bojeski scored her first collegiate goal.
For Dartmouth (9-3-1), junior netminder Carli Clemis (Taber, Alta.) made 18 saves, including 11 in the second period, in her two periods of work. Sophomore Mariel Lacina (London, Ont.) saw action in the third period, pushing aside six shots for the Big Green.
Mercyhurst goaltender Laura Hosier improved to 10-3-2 on the season with 31 saves, including double-digit saves in the first and third periods. She earned her fourth shutout of the season.
Dartmouth was shutout for the first time this season and the first time since Mercyhurst held the Big Green scoreless on October 22 of last season when the Lakers defeated Dartmouth 1-0 at Mercyhurst.
The Big Green will look to rebound tomorrow afternoon as Dartmouth faces these same Lakers at Thompson Arena with the face-off coming at 1 p.m.
