The defending Ivy League Champion Dartmouth women's basketball team opens the 2008-09 slate at Harford this Saturday at 2:00 p.m. The Hawks, defending America East champs, are riding the nation's longest home winning streak at 26 games.
THIS TIME OUT: Game Number 854. The Big Green opens the 36th season of varsity play when it takes on the Hawks of Hartford. Dartmouth is 19-17 all-time in season openers and 3-5 since 2000. The
Big Green has struggled in road openers going 7-13, but posts a
sparkling 12-4 home record. The last time Dartmouth won the first game
of the season on the road was Nov. 17, 2001 at Colgate.
LAST TIME OUT: Dartmouth's last game of the 2007-08 season (15-16) was a loss in the first round of the WNIT at Vermont. It marked the fourth-straight year in which the Big Green has made a postseason appearance.
NEXT TIME OUT: Dartmouth heads back to Hanover for its home-opener on Tuesday, Nov. 22 when it hosts St. John's. The Red Storm took it to the Big Green last
season in Queens, so Dartmouth will have redemption on its mind.

QUICK HITS:
? Dartmouth women's basketball enters the 2008-09 campaign on the heels of a remarkable comeback to win a share of its 16th Ivy League Championship in 2007-08. With just seven returning players, six newcomers and two new assistant coaches, the Big Green overcame a 3-11 non-league record to tear through the Ancient Eight.
? Dartmouth jumpstarts its 36th season of varsity play today when it takes on a formidable opponent in Hartford. Something will have to give in the all-time series, as the squads enter today's contest tied, 6-6.
? The Big Green returns 10 letterwinners and three starters from the 2007-08 squad, though at least five players on the team have significant starting experience.
? Hartford and Dartmouth met in the season-opener for both teams in 2006 for the Preseason WNIT in Hartford. The Hawks won that one, 62-45. Both teams earned those Preseason invites after 20+ win seasons and NCAA Tournament appearances in 2006.
? Dartmouth's senior co-captains Darcy Rose and Koren Schram, have won two-Ivy Championships and made three-straight postseasons.
