PRINCETON, N.J. ? Dartmouth senior Alex Barnett (St. Louis, Mo.) was named the Ivy League Co-Player of the Week ending Nov. 23 after averaging 26 points in the Big Green's two games. This is the second time in his career he has been named the league's player of the week. Barnett shared the award with Cornell center Jeff Foote, who averaged 17.7 points and 8.0 rebounds in three games last week.
Barnett began his week by tallying a career-high 28 points at Providence in a 100-82 loss on Tuesday, Nov. 18. He also set a personal best with five three-pointers (in just eight attempts) and equaled his previous top mark of 10 field goals. Then in the home opener this past Saturday against Colgate, Barnett put up 24 more points in a 65-60 loss. Eight of those points came in the final 45 seconds as Dartmouth tried to make a furious comeback. He also topped the squad with nine rebounds while hitting 9-of-14 from the floor and 5-of-6 from the line.
For his career, Barnett needs just 98 more points to become the 25th player in Dartmouth history to score 1,000 in a career.
Getting a mention on the league's honor roll for top performances was freshman Jabari Trotter (Northridge, Calif.). The point guard scored 19 points in the loss at Providence, hitting 6-of-10 from the floor and 3-of-4 from behind the arc, plus handed out five assists with just one turnover.
The Big Green (0-3) are back in action at Leede Arena on Tuesday, Nov. 25, when they host Furman (1-2) at 7 p.m.
