ORLANDO, Fla.
- The Dartmouth women's tennis team got back on the winning track today,
besting the
University of Central
Florida 4-3 at the UCF Tennis Complex. The
Knights (7-7) won two of the three doubles matches to take the doubles point,
with
Dartmouth's No. 1 team of
senior co-captain
Megan Zebroski (
Port Washington,
N.Y.) and freshman
Molly Scott (
Trabuco
Cyn, Calif.) picking up the
lone win for the Big Green.
Playing in sweltering conditions, Dartmouth
rebounded to win four of the six singles matches and clinch the match. Scott
was first off the court for the Big Green, winning handily at No. 1 singles
over Elvira Serrot, followed by fellow freshman Georgiana Smyser (Houston,
Texas) who won 6-1, 6-3 over Jennifer Carrati at No. 5 singles. Zebroski lost a
close match at No. 2 singles, as did sophomore Jesse Adler (Winnetka,
Ill.) at No. 4, who fell 6-4 in the third
set. Fellow sophomores Mary Beth Winingham (Carmel,
ind.) at No. 3 and Carley Markovitz (South Pasadena,
Calif.) at No. 6 pulled out the final two
wins for Dartmouth, both winning in
three sets.
Dartmouth is now
8-1 on the season and returns to action on Wednesday, March 19, with a double-header.
The Big Green takes on Coastal Carolina at 10 a.m.,
