Series
Record: Dartmouth leads, 17-3-3.
The Big Green has often held the upper hand in the series with the Lions, but
Columbia has gotten its shots in lately. All three of Columbia's wins and both
ties have come since 2003, during which time the series is 3-1-2 in favor of
the Lions. Dartmouth last won in 2005, a 5-0 romp, and the last tie was in 2007
in Hanover.
This Time Out: Dartmouth hosts Ivy foe Columbia in a critical conference matchup for both teams. Despite having two losses, the Big Green can still finish 5-2 in Ivy play and three weeks of games left means plenty of potential Ancient Eight drama in the battle for the title. Last Time Out: Dartmouth cruised to a 3-0 victory over Vermont on Tuesday evening at Burnham Field. Scoring three first half goals, the Big Green outshot the Catamounts, 28-1. All 21 available players saw significant playing time in the victory and three different players scored goals and three had assists. Dartmouth opened the scoring in the ninth minute when Kelsey Quick (Bernardsville, N.J.) brought the ball into the box and unselfishly passed it off to Myra Sack (Wynnewood, Pa.). Sack easily beat the keeper with a low, left footed shot to go up 1-0 in the ninth minute. Dartmouth went up 2-0 in the 26th minute when Sack played the ball from the right side to Becky Poskin (Leawood, Kan.), who corralled the ball and fired past the Vermont keeper. Junior Peyton Tata (Virginia Beach, Va.) closed the scoring with a long bomb from the right side off a feed from Ali Hubbard (Marshfield, Mass.).
Classy Senior: Senior midfielder Myra Sack (Wynnewood, Pa.) has been named one of 10 national finalists for the prestigious Lowe's Senior Class Award. The award recognizes excellence in competition, community, classroom and character. An All-Ivy and All-Northeast midfielder, Sack is the co-founder of Athletes United at Dartmouth and spent a semester volunteering for Soccer Without Borders in Nicaragua. Read more about Myra's candidacy here. Myra needs your help to win, as fan voting accounts for one-third of the final decision! Vote DAILY by visiting the Senior Class Award website here. Next Time Out: Dartmouth has just one game next week, heading to Cambridge to face rival Harvard on Oct. 31 at 11 a.m. The Big Green travels to Bryant on Nov. 3 and returns to Burnham for its final regular season game on Nov. 7 against Cornell.
