HANOVER, N.H. — The ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Football Teams were announced today, and Dartmouth sophomore tight end
John Gallagher was selected for the District I university squad. Gallagher was one of eight Ivy Leaguers named to an all-district team.
Gallagher, a native of Salem, Ore., who sports a 3.67 GPA, is second on the Big Green with 20 receptions this year for a total of 155 yards with one touchdown. He caught at least three passes in each of the first five games, including a career-high seven at nationally-ranked Holy Cross. The week prior he amassed 49 receiving yards to set a personal best while hauling in four tosses, one going for a 17-yard touchdown against the Yale Bulldogs. In two years with the Big Green, Gallagher has caught 32 passes for 266 yards and the one score.
Gallagher now goes onto the national ballot for Academic All-America honors with the first-teamers from the other seven districts. The Academic All-America teams will be announced on Nov. 24.
