HANOVER, N.H. — Dartmouth wide receiver Tanner Scott (Kenilworth, Ill.) was one of 55 players to be named to the 12th annual Football Championship Subdivision Athletics Directors Association (FCS ADA) Academic All-Star Team. He was chosen from a group of 86 nominees.
A junior walk-on, Scott worked his way up from the bottom of the depth chart in the preseason to become the leading wide receiver for Dartmouth with 45 receptions for 510 yards and three touchdowns. The economics major with a 3.84 GPA caught 45 passes to rank seventh in the Ivy League while his 510 yards put him eighth. He was the only Big Green player to post a 100-yard receiving game this year, accomplishing the feat twice. Against a top-20 team at Holy Cross, Scott caught seven passes for a career-high 126 yards and a score, then grabbed seven more throws two weeks later at Harvard for 116 yards and a touchdown.
“The FCS ADA looks forward to honoring outstanding student-athletes each year, which culminates with the annual academic all-star team announcement,” said FCS ADA President Peter Fields, chair of the FCS ADA Academic All-Star Team Selection Committee and athletics director at Montana State. “These football players represent the true meaning of the word student-athlete and we are proud of their accomplishments both in the classroom and on the field.”
Football players from all FCS institutions are eligible for these prestigious awards. Each of the nominees were required to have a minimum grade point average of 3.20 (on a 4.00 scale) in undergraduate study and have been a starter or key player with legitimate athletics credentials. He must have reached his second year of athletics and academic standing at the nominated institution and have completed a minimum of one full academic year at the nominated institution. He must also have participated in 50 percent of the games played at his designated position.
