CANTON, N.Y. ? St. Lawrence completely overwhelmed the Dartmouth men's hockey team on
Saturday as the Saints took a 7-2 victory over the Big Green. With the win, SLU and Dartmouth are now tied for fourth place with 22 points as each are fighting for a first-round bye and home ice in the playoffs with one weekend in the regular season left.
Goals by Rob Pritchard (Burnaby, B.C.) along with Troy Mattila's (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) first collegiate strikes were all the Big Green was able to muster as St. Lawrence took a 4-0 lead into the first break and then was up 6-1 after two periods of play.
Adam Estoclet (Orono, Minn.), Evan Stephens (Bessmer, Mich.), Doug Jones (Marietta, Ga.) and Joe Gaudet (Etna, N.H.) all earned assists on the goals.
Freshman forward Mark Armstrong keyed a four-goal SLU first period with a pair of goals. St. Lawrence scored in bunches in the game, netting two in the first period less than a minute apart and scoring two in the second in under two minutes.
In net Jody O'Neill took the loss as he made 32 saves while Alex Petizian was the winner for the Saints, also making 32 saves.
Dartmouth wraps up the regular season next weekend with two games against Princeton on Friday and Quinnipiac on Saturday. Friday's contest with be the Big Green's "Pink at the Rink" game as Dartmouth will wear special jerseys. Saturday will be senior night as the Big Green will be saying goodbye to three senios. Game time for both days is 7:00 pm.
