For Yale (9-14-0, 5-11-0 ECAC Hockey), Helen Resor and Aleca Hughes added the goals, while Bray Ketchum posted a two-point night with a pair of assists. Genny Ladiges got the start in net and took the loss, pushing aside 24 shots.
After taking two-plus periods to score a goal last night, it only took the Big Green 1:42 to get on the board as Toupal netted her third of the season. She received a pass from Fischer and skated into the zone of the left side. She then fired a shot from just outside the circle that beat Ladiges on the blocker side for a 1-0 lead.
Yale countered at the 11:00 mark as Hughes potted her seventh of the year with the assist going to Ketchum. Hughes put a soft shot that Clemis was surprised and screened on and the puck tucked inside the near post to knot the game at one.
The Bulldogs got their first lead of the game in the second period, 3:35 into the frame on a goal from Resor. Yale got a rush on Clemis and Ketchum collected the puck, beat Clemis, but the shot rang off the post. However, Resor was right on the doorstep for the rebound and slid the puck into the open net to give Yale a 2-1 lead.
In the third period, the Big Green evened the score on Newnam's seventh power play goal of the season. Cunningham circled the puck from the end line and found an open Newnam in the high slot. She wasted no time on the shot and beat Ladiges off the inside of the right post to even the score at 2-2 with 8:15 remaining in the game.
