REGATTA HIGHLIGHTS:
Day 1
Windy, windy, windy. We started the day with full rigs, sailing course 4G (double
windward-leeward with an offset after the windward mark and a leeward gate). After the gusts
started to breach 25 knots, we rolled up the jibs and switched to the zig-zag course (windward,
reach, reach, reach, windward, leeward). Somehow we still managed to break two masts, and races
were postponed until Sunday at 10am. -Reid Van Gorder
Day 2
Once again, Big Mama Nature brought the wind. We saw gusts well over 20 knots, but the
dominant breeze was around 15. We used full rigs on the zig-zag course all day, and we were
able to finish the regatta with 10 races per division. Breakdown points were awarded today for
a broken clevis pin. Also, several sailors were scored DNF because they did not sail through
the correct finish line. Overall, it was an excellent regatta. -Reid Van Gorder
