HANOVER, N.H. — Dartmouth College and VERSUS came to an agreement today to televise the Big Green Ivy League football game against Penn on Oct. 3 at Memorial Field. In order to accommodate the broadcast, the time of the game has been changed to noon.
With this broadcast, Dartmouth will have had at least one football game on television for 16 straight years and 26 of the last 27. Last year the Big Green had six of their 10 games broadcast on television, the most in school history.
“Our team has been waiting for 10 long months to show what they can do against Ivy competition,” said Dartmouth Acting Athletics Director Bob Ceplikas. “It's exciting that they will be able to show their progress to a national television audience.”
This will be the second time for Dartmouth on VERSUS after last year's broadcast at Columbia.
Penn leads the all-time series against the Big Green, 42-32-2, but the teams have split the last two contests. Last year, Penn held off Dartmouth at Franklin Field in Philadelphia by a score of 23-10. The score was tied at seven entering the half, and the Big Green took a quick 10-7 lead in the third quarter on a 22-yard field goal by Foley Schmidt. But the Quakers came back with 16 unanswered points, the last nine coming on three field goals in the fourth quarter.
Dartmouth kicks off its 128th season tomorrow afternoon at 1:30 p.m. when it hosts Colgate (2-0) at Memorial Field. The radio broadcast featuring Bob Lipman and Wayne Young will be aired on WFRD 99.3 FM and Sirius Satellite Radio (channel 129), plus streamed online at DartmouthSportsNetwork.com.
