TROY, N.Y. — Back on the road for the first time since Dec. 11, the results remained the same with the Big Green losing their fourth straight road game. Rensselaer scored a season-high five goals in the 5-2 victory. The loss dropped Dartmouth to 8-6-0 overall and 5-4-0 in the ECAC. RPI improved to 7-7-6 overall and 5-3-1 in the conference.
The first period scoring started quickly with the Big Green gaining a 1-0 advantage just over a minute into the first frame. Junior Erica Dobos (Bethel Park, Pa.) scored her second goal of the season off assists from sophomore Margaux Sharp (Carleton Place, Ont.) and junior Geneva Kliman (Toronto, Ont.). It marked the 14th power play goal of the season for Dartmouth. The Engineers responded over a minute later on a goal by Jordan Smelker. RPI added a power play goal later in the period to take a 2-1 lead.
The Engineers extended their lead in the second period by scoring three more goals. The Big Green added one goal, and ended the period down 5-2. Sophomore Camille Dumais (Beaconsfield, Que.) scored on Dartmouth's second power play goal of the contest. It was Dumais fifth goal of the season. Neither team scored in the final period.
Freshman Lindsay Holdcroft (Pittsburgh, Pa.) took the loss (5-4-0) for the Big Green, making 14 saves in two periods. Sophomore Whitney Woodcox (Oshawa, Ont.) played a scoreless third, making 11 saves.
Dartmouth returns to the ice on Saturday at Union at 4 p.m.
