PRINCETON, N.J.- Dartmouth women's basketball player Milica Toskovic (Santa Monica, Calif.) has been named Ivy League co-Rookie of the Week for her performance against Longwood on Saturday (Jan. 21). Toskovic shares the award with Sarah Halejian from Yale.
The honor is Toskovic's first career Rookie of the Week accolade and marks the second consecutive week a Dartmouth player has earned the award. Tia Dawson (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) was co-Rookie of the Week last week becoming Dartmouth's first Rookie of the Week since the 2009-10 season.
Toskovic earned the award for her play against Longwood last week. In the Big Green's loss, she scored 14 points for her third consecutive game in double figures and her fourth double figure outing in the last five games. She also added two assists and five rebounds in her sixth start of the season.
This season, Toskovic has started six contests and is averaging 5.8 points and 3.2 rebounds per game. After missing several games early with injury, she has picked up her offensive output especially from long range. She has made at least two three-pointers in Dartmouth's last five games, including a career-high four triples against Harvard (Jan. 14). Toskovic is also an important piece of the Big Green defense, grabbing at least one rebound in each game she has played this season and posting a career-best nine rebounds in a win against Colgate (Nov. 19).
Dartmouth welcomes Brown and Yale to Leede Arena for Ivy League contests this weekend. The Big Green takes on Brown on Friday (Jan. 27) at 7 p.m. before closing the weekend with a matinee against Yale on Sunday (Jan. 29) at 2 p.m.
