HANOVER, N.H. – The Dartmouth men's hockey team opened its preseason slate Saturday night against Alberta, falling, 6-1, at Thompson Arena in the first exhibition game of 2014-15.
The Golden Bears came to Hanover as the defending CIS National Champions and with an eight-game win streak, a figure it pushed to the nine as they scored a pair of goals in each of the three periods.
Senior Rick Pinkston scored the lone tally for the Big Green, netting a first-period marker, but Alberta's netminder Luke Siemens was up to the task the rest of the night.
Seniors Tyler Sikura and Eric Robinson picked up assists on the Pinkston marker.
Junior goaltenders Charles Grant (32:40, 20 saves, 3 GA) and James Kruger (27:20, 9 saves, 3 GA) split time in the Dartmouth crease, a gameplan set in motion before the opening puck drop.
The Golden Bears got a pairs of goals each from Stephane Legault and Jordan Hickmott and one from both Jesse Craig and Brett Ferguson to wrap-up their scoring.
Dartmouth was 0-for-3 on the man-advantage, while Alberta converted on one of its three opportunities.
The Big Green have a quick turnaround as Brown comes to Hanover Sunday for a 5 p.m. scrimmage following the conclusion of the women's 2 p.m. game with UNH. Admission to the men's game is free.
