DARTMOUTH MEN'S SOCCER WEEKLY NOTES
Live Stats: Dartmouthsports.com | Live Video: Ivy League Digital Network | Inside Men's Soccer With Chad Riley: Brown: ILDN
All-Time Series vs. Brown: The Bears hold a 37-31-5 all-time record over the Big Green. Last season, Dartmouth defeated Brown, 2-1. Dartmouth has won the last three of four meetings.
Scouting Brown: Brown enters the final game of the season looking to play the spoilers role. The Bears defeated Boston U. and tied Boston College this season, but have since struggled in Ivy League play. Jack Gorab and Ben Maurey lead the Bears with 10 points each. Gorab is more of a playmaker, while Maurey holds the edge in goals with four. Mitch Kupstas has played in 15 games in the cage and holds a 0.92 goals against average.
Omsberg Named Ivy Rookie of the Week: Omsberg led the Big Green with three points at Cornell, as the visitors topped the Big Red, 3-0. Omsberg once again used his height to head in a corner kick cross in the 16th minute to give the Big Green a 1-0 lead. The Scarborough, Maine product also picked up an assist.
Big Green Receive National Rankings: The Big Green have cracked the top 25 this week, as announced by the National Soccer Coaches of America Association (NSCAA). After receiving votes the previous five weeks, the Big Green earned 35 points and are now ranked number 25 heading into the final weekend of the Ivy season against Brown. The team has an opportunity to claim at least a share of the Ivy League title and secure the NCAA automatic bid with a win against the Bears. The last time the Big Green was ranked was against Cornell on Nov. 3, 2012.
Ivy League Title Scenarios:
If Dartmouth and Princeton win, teams will share Ivy title and Dartmouth gets the NCAA's Automatic Qualifier (by virtue of head-to-head win over Princeton)
If Dartmouth wins and Princeton loses, Dartmouth clinches Ivy title and NCAA's AQ.
If Princeton wins and Dartmouth loses, Princeton clinches title Ivy and NCAA's AQ.
If Harvard wins and both Dartmouth and Princeton lose, Harvard clinches Ivy title and NCAA's AQ.
If Harvard wins and both Dartmouth and Princeton tie, all three teams will share the Ivy title and Dartmouth gets NCAA's AQ. Dartmouth would have a win and tie against Princeton and Harvard for 4 pts. against the tied teams. (Princeton is 1-1-0=3 pts; Harvard is 0-1-1=1 pt)
If Harvard ties or loses and both Dartmouth and Princeton lose, Dartmouth and Princeton will share Ivy title and Dartmouth gets the NCAA's AQ (by virtue of head-to-head win over Princeton)
